I learned of a local family with a sweet baby battling RSV at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. As a mama with a little one myself, it broke my heart seeing the pictures of the eight-week-old on oxygen. I then learned of the opportunity to send a card to the patient and/or family. I imagined the parents might appreciate knowing I am thinking of and praying for them and their little one, so I sent a card.
All I had to do was go onto the Nationwide Children’s Hospital website, pick my card design, type in my message and the patient’s room number, and click submit! The cards get printed every morning (Monday through Friday) at 9am, and delivered to the patient. How awesome is that?! It’s free, quick and simple. And I can imagine it can brighten someone’s difficult day.

Share a Message of Hope with a Sick Child this Christmas
The title of this article says it takes 2 minutes, but if you’re speedy, you could probably reduce that to 1. If you have a single minute to spare, please consider sending a card. There are kids who don’t have close family or friends that they will see this Christmas. You might be the encouragement and hope they need for the day. A simple message to let them know you are thinking about them, hope they get to feeling better and wishing them a Merry Christmas is sure to be appreciated.
It’s a great opportunity to get your kids involved, too! What better way to know what a kid might like to hear than just asking one?
Share kindness. Send a card today.
P.S. I’m emphasizing cards at Christmastime because I think it’s an especially difficult time for kids to be in the hospital. That said, you can send these cards every day, all year round!
